Arike Ogunbowale
Arike Ogunbowale is an NBA player with the Dallas Wings, a team in the Women's National Basketball Association. She played college basketball with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, prior to being selected by the Wings as the 5th overall selection in the 2019 WNBA draft. Arike Ogunbowale was born on the 2nd of March 1997 in Milwaukee Wisconsin to parents Yolanda and Gregory Ogunbowale. Mario Ogunbowale (26 years) as well as Dare Ogunbowale (19 years) are her two older brothers. She was the youngest child in her family and her parents took care of her to the max. Gregory's father was part of the Nigerian Army. Ogunbowale's family is with ties to the sports world. The brother Dare is a player in the NFL as is her mom Yolanda was a softball player at DePaul. Her aunt used to play volleyball at UAPB as was their cousin Endia Oliver too plays Volleyball at Tennessee State. Ogunbowale was listed on her school's Honour Roll for three years consecutively. In addition, she has won numerous prizes and gained fame and recognition for her time at high school. Arike finished her high school education in Divine Savior Holy Angels High School which is located in her home town. The school was accompanied by three years of play varsity. Ogunbowale's extraordinary abilities helped her school capturing stunning victories multiple times. Her high school career with 73 starts in her career and has a total of 1,477 points and 739 rebounds. Ogunbowale has won gold at the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championships as well as the 2014 FIBA U17 world Championships and 2013 U18 FIBA 3x3 Championships. She was named to the USA Youth Olympic Women's Basketball Team on July 7, 2014. Ogunbowale was also named as a member of the ACC All-Freshman Team after her debut collegiate season. The coach even thanked the legendary Kobe Bryant after she hit various big shots in the NCCA Tournament. Ogunbowale is not a newcomer to basketball, but she has already established herself.
